Conversation Calendars

Conversation Calendars are an old idea but probably my best classroom management strategy. In my first book I Read it But Don’t Get It, I share this tool with teachers to help them get to know and connect with learners. And let me tell you, if you try them out, you will be amazed at what students tell you.

The idea of these calendars was inspired by Nancy Atwell's back and forth journals. But responding to each journal took too much time. So, I modified the journal idea to weekly calendars to see if I could still accomplish my goal of connecting with students to figure out what they need, what they care about, and who they are as people...and it worked!

Download the exact template I use with students and give it a go. I've also included a guide for how to use it, some time savers I learned along the way, and real life examples for you to reference. If any questions come up, email me at TovaniCris@gmail.com. I'm happy to chat.
